When growing up there were two holidays that brought great anticipation. Christmas and Easter. Today I'd like to talk about the latter.
Mom was the best at making sure we seven kids were showered with some of the most wonderful memories when it came to holidays. On Easter morning our baskets would be filled with green shredded Easter grass, loose jelly beans (those big red sugary ones!), colored hard-boiled eggs, and a big hollow chocolate bunny to top it off. The candy usually lasted a day or two and then it was up to the attic with the big wicker baskets till the next year.
We were hungry a lot growing up so that sugar rush on that special spring day kept us satisfied for days.
